Can I rent a boat without license?
If you don’t have a licence but still want to enjoy an incredible boating holiday, you can choose the option to rent a boat without skipper.
Today, not all the sea and boats lovers have a boat licence. But it’s not a reason to get down because nowadays you can rent bareboat with no licence required and basic boating skills needed.
Bareboat charter is simply a boat rented without a skipper or crew. A bareboat charter means you will need to skipper and navigate the boat yourself. Depending on your experience a bareboat charter is a big responsibility – you are responsible for the safety of everyone on board.
For a day boat rental a small boat is normally considered to be between 4 and 10 metres in length.
They are slow compared to other boats on the water, limited in terms of the distance you can travel. Boats that have an engine with a horsepower of less than 30hp (15hp for inflatable boats) qualify as “bateaux sans permis”.
You can set your own itinerary while boating, spend a day on the water soaking up the sun and relaxing on a private boat with your favourite people.
Happy boating !
