Spend a day at the south part of Heraklion Region. Discover its coast and scenic landscapes of Matala, swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea and take a walk to the world-wide known Caves of the Village, shelter of the hippies during 60’s&70’s. Enjoy the views over the bay and walk around the streets of the village to do some souvenir shopping or have lunch. During this tour you will also visit, the archaeological site of Gortyn, the Roman capital of the island of Crete which area was first inhabited around 7000 BC.

Full Description
Morning Pick up:
We will start collecting participants from pick-up points in the morning.
Depending on the place of your hotel/apartment the bus drive will differ.
Bus Drive: 1 hour 30 minutes
1st Stop: Gortys Site – 1 hour
Visit the unique archaeological place at the South of Crete, with sights from all periods of the 5000 years Cretan history.
Bus Drive: 20 minutes
2nd Stop: Matala– 4 hours 30 minutes
Arrival at the Hippies Beach of Matala. Our participantswill have plenty of free time to enjoy swimming, explore the famous caves, or have lunch at the most popular hippies shelter during the eras of 60’s & 70’s.
End of the tour – Return to resorts:
Embarkation in the buses and drive back to the hotels where we gathered participants in the morning.
Depending on traffic and on the pick-up places of each one, the time of journey back to the hotel will differ.
