Tour Details

Imbros Gorge is the second most popular walking gorge in Crete after Samaria Gorge. The village of Imbros is a charming mountain village.

Walking in the Imbros Gorge is much easier: walking 8 km, total descent of about 600 m, and the average walking time is about 2.5 hours. The path is usually easier underfoot. This is a walk that can be easily walked with children. It also doesn’t take a whole day.The gorge is quite narrow (less than 2 meters wide in one place!) There are many trees in it, and you will be in the shade most of the time. The gorge is much smaller in height, length and less majestic than Samaria, but it is also an interesting and fascinating gorge.

After about 90 minutes walk from the booth at the entrance to the gorge, you will see an impressive stone arch on your right. After that, the gorge widens slightly, and in about 15 minutes you will reach the road and the village of Komitades, where you will find many taverns.
Komitades village is the end of the gorge and the meeting point for the bus.
